Getting late and with an early start tomorrow I'll keep the prose to
a minimum and let the photos speak.
1) Dale in full extreme science diver attire about to head out on a
dive. The nifty mask he is wearing allows him to talk underwater to
Jim during while they work.
2) Tom Hiller from GeoAcoustics giving a guest lecture to the
students all about how scientists use sound to map the seafloor.
Later the students will have a chance to ground truth the images they
saw in class by swimming out to some of the sites that we mapped.
3) Jim and Dale assembling their camera rig to conduct transect
surveys of the reef at various depths along shore.
4) The agony of the feet. An unidentified (name withheld) member of
the science team demonstrating the effects of exposure to the sun and
mosquitoes.
5) Bernard and Alex sliding the UBC Gavia out of the cradle and into
the water for some pre-mission launch testing.
