Cheryn, Kenny, Jon, and I together went on a Geocache adventure today. We started out at the science compound at the Hamlet Oasis. We expected to be finding a Geocache that was located within the Captain Don's Habitat resort but found that the cache was really out at Klien Bonaire. With no way of getting out to Klien we headed back to the science compound and input the coordinates of a new Geocache. This one was located in the thicket across the street from the Hamlet. After trudging through some rather thorny bushes Jon had the keen eye that was able to locate the cache. It was a small plastic container in a pile of rocks under a small shrub. The process was rather simple. We added to the Geocache a cowry shell, a Delaware keychain, 2 Guilders, and a US dime. I personally wasn't a big fan of the GPS unit we were using. The map it created had no reference point, no North marker, and never oriented the map to the direction you were pointing. As someone who has practiced land navigation with a map and compass (and sometimes even less), I found it extremely bothersome to be unable to orient myself with the map provided by the unit.
