Myself and Kenny Bijanksy will be looking at tsnuami deposits on Bonaire. Some of the key points of the project will be:
1. Differentiating between deposits made by storm waves and those made by tsunamis.
2. Estimating the extent inland and possibly overall energy of the wave as a function of the size of the boulders found at each tsunami deposit site.
3. Bathymetric mapping offshore to locate possibly covered deposits. (if possible with assistance from the science team)
4. Determing the average time between tsunamis (dependent on #3).
5. Developing a grain size distribution in detail for one site in peticular.
I know some scientists were here in Bonaire last year (Morton, USGS) so it will be interesting to build on what they have recorded in papers. More to come with revisions if neccessary.
