For our project, we will be looking at how the locals recycle trash, such as tires and driftwood and other various items. While we have seen many around the island separating glass bottles, we want to investigate what happens to where the glass goes (especially since in the US you have to separate colors, which they do not do here). We will look at the ratio of plastics versus glass, to see if it is logical to create a recycling program for plastics as well. We also want to walk along the accessible coasts and create a table of what kind of trash there is and research ways on how to reuse these types of trash. If possible, we will look at the affects that the trash accumulation has on the biological/geological aspects of the island. Cheryn and Ashley B.
