Kat and I will be doing a joint project along with one other group, Crystal and Megan. We plan to create a detailed species list of the reef organisms from the surface to the reef foot. Our two teams will separate the reef into two halves. The first group, Megan and Crystal, will focus their research from the surface to 50 feet. The second group, Kat and myself, will focus from 50 ft to 100 ft. Our sampling will be done so by a set time at a given depth range looking for reef animals. The total 100 ft of depth will be broken down into 10 groups, 10 feet each. Two divers will hang in the given depth range for a pre-determined time period writing down all seen species. Once the lists have been collected we will look into the different species found in each range. The samples will be taken in the same location, the broken down resort, but as several different times of the day. We will be looking at dawn, mid-day, dusk, and the night. This way we hope to compile a list !
